Issue 197 (Vol 50:3) of ACM Communications in Computer Algebra (CCA) is now available.
It can be accessed via the ACM Digital Library here. This requires an ACM DL subscription (provided with SIGSAM membership).
The issue includes an article by Fritz Schwartz on Decomposing and solving quasilinear second-order differential equations; and the abstracts from the Software Demonstrations at ISSAC 2016.
The Technical University of Berlin has an opening for a three year postdoc position, based in the Berlin Mathematical School. The candidate should have already done successful research in one of: complexity theory, applied algebraic geometry, complexity or accuracy of numerical algorithms.
The Department of Mathematics and Computer Science at Eindhoven University of Technology invites applications for a Tenure-track Assistant Professorship in Applied Algebra and Geometry.
Depending on the candidate’s experience, a higher-level entry may be considered. Click here for further details.
Nominations are now being accepted for the inaugural SIAG/Algebraic Geometry Early Career Prize.
The prize is awarded every two years to one outstanding early career researcher in the field of algebraic geometry and its applications. For further details including the eligibility criteria see the award page.
Issue 196 of ACM Communications in Computer Algebra (CCA) is now available.
It can be accessed via the ACM Digital Library here. This requires an ACM DL subscription (provided with SIGSAM membership).
The issue includes an article by Aude Maignan and Tony C. Scott on the Generalized Lambert W function and abstracts from the recent Computer Algebra conference in Moscow.
We are sorry to report that Jonathan Borwein, Laureate Professor of Mathematics and Director of the Centre for Computer-assisted Mathematical Research and Applications (CARMA) at the University of Newcastle, Australia, has passed away at the age of 65.
Prof. Borwein was widely recognized as one of the world’s foremost practitioners of Experimental Mathematics. He also worked in pure mathematics, applied mathematics, optimization theory, computer science and mathematical finance.
Please see the obituaries by the Canadian Mathematical Society and his long-time collaborator David Bailey.
The following awards were sponsored by ACM SIGSAM and presented at the ISSAC 2016 banquet last night.
ISSAC 2016 is currently taking place at Wilfred Laurier University, Waterloo, Ontario, Canada.
For those not in Waterloo, the proceedings can be found in the ACM Digital Library and contain all papers presented at the conference. The extended abstracts for poster presentations and software demonstrations will appear in a later issue of Communications in Computer Algebra.
ISSAC 2016 takes place this year at Wilfrid Laurier University Canada. Registration is now open. Several workshops are being organised in Ontario to coincide with the event.
Issue 195 of ACM Communications in Computer Algebra (CCA) is now available.
It can be accessed via the ACM Digital Library here. This requires an ACM DL subscription (provided with SIGSAM membership).
The issue includes an articles by: Delgado and García-Sánchez on a GAP package for numerical semigroups; and Lecerf and Saadé on Kantorovich's Theorem.
SIGSAM maintains a list of Upcoming Conferences. ISSAC 2016 will take place in Waterloo, Canada on 19-22 July. Other meetings include:
A new editor for ACM Communications in Computer Algebra (CCA) has been appointed. Wen-shin Lee from The University of Antwerpen, Belgium, has been appointed to the role.
CCA is published 4 times a year and includes a mixture of formally reviewed articles and announcements of interest to the SIGSAM community. It is published digitally through the ACM Digital Library and all SIGSAM members receive a print copy.
Issue 194 of ACM Communications in Computer Algebra (CCA) is now available.
It won't appear on the digital library for a few weeks but SIGSAM members with an ACM web account can download the pdfs now from our CCA archive.
The issue includes abstracts for the software demonstrations presented at ISSAC 2016.
