PASCO 2018
Vancouver, Canada, May 25, 2018.
The 9th International Workshop on Parallel Symbolic Computation (PASCO) is the latest instance in a series of workshops dedicated to the promotion and advancement of parallel algorithms and software in all areas of symbolic mathematical computation.
PASCO 2018 will be held in conjunction with the IEEE International Parallel & Distributed Processing Symposium (IPDPS).PASCO will be run as a satellite workshop immediately following IPDPS. The collocation of PASCO and IPDPS provides the opportunity for computer algebra researchers interested in parallel computing to participate in one of the main parallel computing conferences and for attendees of IPDPS to be exposed to problems in symbolic computation.
Topics of Interest
Specific topics include, but are not limited to:
- Design and analysis of parallel algorithms for computer algebra
- Practical parallel implementation of symbolic or symbolic-numeric algorithms
- Design of high-performance algebraic packages and systems
- Data representation and distributed data-structures
- Considerations for modern hardware and hardware acceleration technologies (multi-cores, GPUs, FPGAs)
- Cache complexity and cache-oblivious algorithms for computer algebra
- Parallel implementations of computer algebra algorithms on GPUs
- Parallel algorithm implementation and performance tuning
- Compile-time and run-time techniques for automating optimization and platform adaptation of computer algebra algorithms
- Applications of high-performance computer algebra in theorem proving, cryptography, computational biology, number theory, group theory, satisfiability checking, SAT solving, etc.
Paper Submission
The conference invites submissions presenting original research. Submissions in the form of extended abstracts (2-4 pages) single-spaced double-column pages using 10-point size font on 8.5x11 inch pages (IEEE conference style), including figures, tables, and references. The submitted manuscripts should include author names andaffiliations. See style templates for details:
http://www.ipdps.org/templates/IEEECS_CPS_LaTeX_Letter_2Col.zip
Papers are exclusively submitted via easy chair at
https://easychair.org/conferences/?conf=pasco2018
Papers must be written in English. Papers must contain original research and may not duplicate work published or submitted for publication elsewhere. Papers will be reviewed by the Program Committee and external referees.
Authors of selected abstracts will be invited to extend their submission to full paper (upto 10 pages). All accepted papers will be distributed at PASCO 2018 and includedin the IPDPS proceedings. At least one author of each accepted paper must attend PASCO 2018 to present his or her paper.
Important Dates
Since PASCO will run as a one day workshop there is limited room for papers/presentations. Paper selection will be based on atwo page extended abstract with quick turn around. Selected papers may be extended to full length.
Deadlines extended to:
- Extended Abstract due Monday Feb 19th (23:59 PST).
- Decisions to authors Monday Mar 5th (23:59 PST).
- Final papers due Monday April 2nd (23:59 PST).
